Procedures for Nomination, Selection, and Recognition
The Research and Teaching Support (RATS) Committee solicits nominations from faculty and students in April each year. Each nomination should include a short explanation of how the staff member nominated exemplifies the Bill Wilson Spirit. In the Award’s inaugural year, all RATS members serve on the award selection committee. In any subsequent year, the winner of the previous year and the non-staff members of RATS form the award selection committee. The selection committee selects one remarkable individual as the award winner.
Immediately following the Dean’s State of the College address in the fall semester, the award reception is held to recognize the winner and all nominated staff members. Excerpts of their nomination letters are read. The winner receives a framed citation at the reception. A plaque in the hallway on the fourth floor of the Hornbake Building is established permanently to record the award winners over the years.
