Ms. Perine, an iSchool doctoral candidate, is a 2021 LEADING Fellow and a guest researcher in AI and bias at National Institute of Standards and Technology. She is also a research assistant for global privacy research at the Social Data Science Center. Her research interests include sociotechnical approaches to trustworthy AI design and use of computational methods to enable inclusive representations in archival and digital library collections. Lori has extensive professional experience in STEM and energy innovation, developing technology initiatives and partnerships across government, industry, academia. She has served on a Presidential Transition Team, held executive positions at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and in international technology alliances, and served on numerous intra- and intergovernmental councils and advisory groups. She has been recognized as a role model and advocates for women and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.
